10 Motivation Tips to Stay Healthy

Stop Procrastinating and start living the healthy balanced lifestyle you’ve always wanted.
As busy mums we often put ourselves to the bottom of the list due to time, commitments, feeling like we are not a priority and the guilt of prioritising ourselves.

Often we think that living a healthy lifestyle is too hard and time-consuming.

It doesn’t have to feel like a burden, nor does it have to be complicated.
Once you get into a routine, it will become more familiar and naturally form a daily habit.

Below I have listed my favourite motivational tips to help you out on your healthy journey or if you are looking at starting, these can really help to get you started, get you focussed, and stay on track for the long haul.

What is Motivation?

As per Wikipedia – “different mental states compete with each other and that only the strongest state determines behaviour”.

Motivation can either be described as:

Intrinsic – meaning you find something enjoyable or interesting, or,

Extrinsic – meaning you will gain a reward on completion.

Inspiration

To help you find your motivation and more importantly keep your motivation long-term, it’s essential to find things that you take inspiration in.
This could be a photo of you to remind yourself of where you want to be. Looking at the photo can help you to realise that your goal is achievable and ultimately drive your determination to get there.

Do a Clean Out

One of the hardest parts of keeping on track is having distractions and temptations.
Ensure you have a clean out of all the unhealthy and tempting food around you that may tempt you.

When you are tempted by things and you give in to these temptations, it can have a negative effect on your mindset and your motivation.

The good thing is that you don’t need to give up everything. Balance and moderation are key to everything.

These days there are alternatives to almost everything, it’s just about learning and knowing recipes to help with your temptations and cravings.
Replace your unhealthy temptations with healthier versions that will help motivate you and keep you on track.

Find Recipes that Excite You

Finding foods and recipes that you are excited to try will help to keep your motivation strong.
This will also help with eating healthier and trying new foods and recipes that you may not have tried before starting your healthy journey.

You can also use a journal or diary and record all your recipes and inspiring dishes to save for later.
Making a Meal Planner for each week can also help you to manage and organise your healthy eating easier and keep your menu exciting and fresh.

Set Your Goals

Setting goals can be a way to get you motivated and to stay motivated.
Ensure you are setting realistic and achievable goals.
If a goal is a large goal, try and break the goal down into smaller sets of goals that work towards the large goal.
By setting goals will help you to aspire to stay focused and achieve your goals.

Examples of your goals could be:

Pledge Your Goals

Writing down your goals will help to reiterate what you have promised yourself to achieve.
Reinforcing these goals will help to keep your motivation and determination to reach your goals.

Give Yourself a Timeframe

Once you have set your goals and written them down with your pledge, it’s time to put a timeframe on each goal.
This is not so you can rush the process but to ensure you are working towards completing these goals which will in turn keep you progressing towards achieving these goals and motivate you to complete them on time.

Use a Journal

A journal is a perfect way to record all your progress and reflect on your journey throughout.
Journaling is also a way to record your goals and evaluate how you are going with achieving your goals in the timeframes you have set out.
Journalling can also be a great way to manage your thoughts and feeling. Starting anything new can seem daunting and your emotions can be a roller coaster. Having a way to deal with this can help you mentally and physically.

Reward Yourself

Rewarding yourself with a reward that is in line with your goals can be a real motivator to help to reach and achieve your goals without losing determination.
It helps to keep you on track and engaged with the process as you know there is a special reward to look forward to. This also helps to reiterate that all your hard work has paid off.

Find a Support Partner

Finding a supportive partner can help keep the focus and motivation strong. You are motivated by not wanting to let your partner down when you may not feel like it.

Cheering each other on and helping each other through the hard times can be a positive benefit to keep you on track and achieve your goals.

Make Simple Daily Changes

When it comes to making changes in your daily routine and ultimately your health and well-being, doing it slowly can help to not become overwhelmed.

When you become overwhelmed or feel like something is too hard, you tend to give up. Making small manageable changes in your daily routine will not only help make these good changes become habits but will also ensure that they are implemented at a pace that will be welcomed rather than dreaded.

For Example:

Making a change for the better can make a massive difference in your health and well-being along with your physical and mental state.

I hope you can take some of these Motivation Tips to ensure you stay on track with your healthy journey.
